Gases
All people have gas. Majority of them produce about 0.5 to 2 liters per day and emit gases about 14 times a day. Passage of gas through the mouth is called belching, and in the rectum - flatulence. Most of the time the gases have no smell. When you have the smell due to bacteria in the colon, which releases a small amount of gases containing sulfur.

Gases in the digestive system are produced by two mechanisms:

* Swallowing air

* Degradation of unground food by bacteria in the colon.

Certain foods can lead to formation of more gas. Drinking lots of water and carbonated drinks, as well as prolonged chewing of food reduces the amount of swallowed air and helps to reduce the gases as a whole. In lactose intolerance, avoid milk products reduces the formation of gases.
