Obesity increases the risk of influenza
Obesity reduces the body's ability to develop immunity against influenza viruses. This conclusion reached by scientists at University of North Carolina, which found that overweight helps very much in the secondary attack of the virus. Because overweight immune system "remembers" how it has fought in previous clashes with the infection.

Researchers infected with mild influenza mice with normal weight and obese. After recovery they were infected again with a much stronger dose of the dangerous strain. As a result 25% of mice, obese, died, and those with normal weight is not affected either.
