Risky sexual behavior leads to hepatitis
During summer months, experts often warn of increased risk of contracting hepatitis. In the mass consciousness, it is associated with dirty hands and poor hygiene in the preparation and consumption of different foods and drinks. When it comes to hepatitis A similar idea is quite correct. Considerably less attention, however, be given to risks of infection with hepatitis B, which is transmitted through blood and sexual contact.

Sea holidays and summer trips imagination and awaken the senses, often predispose to violent experiences. In search of adventure links to little-known partner hardly rare, and cases of transmission of hepatitis B through sexual contact.

Contamination is related not only to sexual contact without a condom. Tattoos and piercings are also summer temptations that can lead to infections, and compliance with the hygiene requirements for cosmetic procedures is far from always guaranteed. Abrasions and occasional cuts are not harmless.

Although less frequently, hepatitis B is transmitted in blood transfusions and medical treatment. Many people will object - after all summer is a time for relaxation, rest for what it is, if you constantly have to guard? And they are right. But health statistics shows that after malaria, hepatitis B is the second most widespread disease in the world. The World Health Organization, about one third of the world population has experienced the disease. Balkans as a whole is defined as a region with increased risk.

Furthermore, with caution, the risk of infection with hepatitis B can be prevented by vaccination. For short visits to risk areas vaccination against hepatitis A is most often enough. Make two doses, the first before the departure and the second 6-12 months later. Preventive effect against hepatitis A will continue at least 20 years. Credible option for protection during long journeys is combined vaccine against both hepatitis viruses - A and B. It is taken in three doses. Two weeks after putting the first dose, the body has produced antibodies.
