Gastritis
Gastritis is a disease of the stomach, characterized by inflammation of the gastric mucosa. The main reasons for its development are excessive alcohol consumption, prolonged use of NSAIDs (eg aspirin, ibuprofen), and infection with the bacterium Helicobacter Pylori (H. Pylori). Sometimes gastritis develops after major surgery, traumatic injuries, burns and severe infections. Conditions such as pernicious anemia, autoimmune diseases and chronic bile reflux can also cause gastritis.

The most commonly occurs gastritis with abdominal discomfort or pain. Other symptoms include belching, bloating, nausea and vomiting, feeling of fullness or burning in the upper abdomen. Vomiting blood or black stools may be signs of bleeding in the stomach, which is a serious problem requiring immediate medical attention.

Gastritis is diagnosed through one or more medical tests:

* Gastroscopy. Through fiber-optic camera and inserted through the mouth to make light of the lining of the esophagus and stomach. Check for the presence of inflammation and assessment may take a sample of tissue for examination - a biopsy.

* Blood tests. Check the number of cells in the blood, in order to exclude the presence of anemia that can occur with bleeding from the stomach lining.

* Examination of the stool. Suspected bleeding stool test for blood in them. The survey may also be used to detect the presence of H. Pylori in the digestive tract.

Treatment usually includes medications to reduce stomach acid, which irritates the inflamed mucosa of the stomach, and avoiding certain foods, beverages and medicines.

If the gastritis is caused by infection with H. pylori, is assigned antibiotic therapy for the eradication of the bacterium, then gastritis usually disappears.

Talk to your doctor before starting or stopping any treatment of gastritis.
